Anointing of the Sick

If anyone among you is sick, summon the presbyters of the church that they may pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord (James 5:14).

The Anointing of the Sick “is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death. Hence, as soon as anyone of the faithful begins to be in danger of death from sickness or old age, the fitting time for him to receive this sacrament has certainly already arrived” (CCC 1514).

Since only the priest can administer this sacrament, please call the office, 305-444-8363. so that one of our priests may visit the sick person and anoint him/her. Should the anointed person recover from their illness, the sacrament may be administered again in case of another illness. Also, it may be repeated if the person’s condition worsens.

One may also receive the anointing prior to a serious operation, or if elderly and frail.
