Dear friends in Christ:
The community of St. Hugh extends condolences on the loss of your loved one. The death of a family member leaves a void in our souls as we mourn their passing. Be assured of our prayers for their repose and for consolation to you and your family.
The Christian funeral affords the opportunity to worship, praise and give thanks to God for the gift of a life which has now returned to His loving embrace. It serves as a reminder of God’s mercy and brings hope and consolation at a difficult time.
While making the necessary funeral arrangements is a difficult chore, it is an act of mercy to offer the Mass of Christian Burial for the deceased who, by Baptism, has been united to Christ’s body.
Please call the office to make the necessary arrangements for the wake and the funeral Mass, and to meet with a parish priest, so that he may offer some consolation. Please feel free to do as much or as little of the planning, and let us know if you wish us to help in selecting the readings and music for the Mass. (You will find the information needed here.)
As you go through this difficult time, remember that we are here for you, and will keep your loved ones in our prayers.
May the peace and consolation of Christ be yours, and our sure hope in the resurrection sustain you, as we ask our Lord’s blessings on you and yours.
