Renewing our hearts
As we continue on our desert road, the Lord appears to us as He did to Moses and calls us from a place as amazing as the burning bush. From that place He invites us to remove our shoes, that is, to set aside all that makes us feel secure, the pride that tells us we can do anything, the conceit that comes with this idea, and to make ourselves “slaves” belonging to this God Who gives us everything and Who sanctifies everything for our happiness and good.
This is what Pope Francis tells us by reminding us that “the path to Easter demands that we renew our faces and hearts as Christians through repentance, conversion and forgiveness…” especially for our sins of omission, which don’t allow us to share our time, our talent and our money with those who, like the Israelites in the desert, hunger and thirst for God.
