The Fire of the Spirit
Just as the bush that burned in the middle of the desert before Moses’ astonished eyes invited him to free His people from slavery, the burning flames of the Holy Spirit hovered over the fearful apostles and the believer Mother, and called them to build a new family of God; one that, by loving, would not be enslaved to sin. Today more than ever, let us keep alive that flame of love that dwells in our hearts and makes us true children of God, true brothers and sisters. This Church, which you and I are, must be bold enough to offer a world that thirsts for God the experience of knowing that we are loved by a Father that never ceases to go looking for the children who haven’t yet come home.
Pope Francis tells us that “Jesus can bring all the [children] of the Church together in a single dream, ‘a great dream, a dream with a place for everyone. The dream for which Jesus gave his life on the cross, for which the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost and brought fire to the heart of every man and woman…. A concrete dream who is a person, running through our veins, thrilling our hearts and making them dance’.” Let us go forth with a joyful heart and plant that joy in those places where only weeping and desperation are found. For that, we count on your time, your talent and your money, so that the flame of Pentecost may never be extinguished.
