iPad Program for Middle School Students

Our one to one iPad program for middle school was extremely successful last year.

We will continue to implement this technology for 2024-2025 school year.

Students and teachers will be actively engaged in the learning process using this cutting edge technology across all subject areas. The students of St. Hugh Catholic School will embrace this technology and learn the importance of being responsible digital citizens. These learning opportunities will enhance their educational experiences and prepare them to become respectful global representatives.

St. Hugh Catholic School 1:1 iPad Program
– Empowering Students
Through Technology

In 2014, St. Hugh Catholic School launched a groundbreaking 1:1 iPad program for middle school students, integrating cutting-edge technology into the heart of our curriculum. This initiative reflects our commitment to providing students with the tools they need to succeed in the rapidly evolving digital world while remaining true to our Catholic values of faith, respect, and responsibility.

Key Aspects of the 1:1 iPad Program:

Personalized Learning: Each middle school student receives an iPad, enabling personalized learning experiences. Students learn at their own pace, access individualized instruction, and engage with content in ways that best suit their learning styles, all within the framework of Catholic teachings and values.

Engaged Learning: iPads transform the learning experience. Students and teachers utilize interactive textbooks, multimedia resources, and engaging apps, fostering deeper comprehension, creativity, and a deeper understanding of how faith and technology intersect in our daily lives.

Enhanced Collaboration: iPads facilitate seamless communication and collaboration among students, teachers, and classmates. Students can easily share their work, receive real-time feedback, and collaborate on projects, fostering teamwork and cooperative learning while always upholding the principles of respect and kindness.

Digital Citizenship Education: A core component of the program focuses on responsible digital citizenship. Students learn about online safety, ethical technology use, and the importance of respectful online behavior. Rooted in Catholic teachings, this education empowers students to be mindful of their online actions and to treat others with dignity and respect.

Ensuring a Safe and Secure Learning Environment:

Internet Safety and Cybersecurity:

Strong Firewalls: Protect our network from unauthorized access and malicious threats.

Safety Software (Gaggle): Proactively monitors for cyberbullying, online harassment, and inappropriate content.

Jamf School MDM: Controls and monitors student iPads, restricting access to inappropriate websites and applications while ensuring compliance with school policies.

Acceptable Use Policy: All students and parents review and agree to an Acceptable Use Policy that outlines expectations for responsible technology use at school and at home, emphasizing the importance of using technology in alignment with Catholic values.

Preparing Our Younger Students: The program begins in 5th grade, providing a gradual introduction to iPad use and preparing students for the increased technology integration they will encounter in middle school.

Preparing Students for Future Success:

By embracing technology while upholding our Catholic values, St. Hugh Catholic School equips students with the essential skills for success in high school, college, and beyond. This program fosters a dynamic learning environment where technology and education work together to enhance student learning and development, rooted in our shared Catholic faith.
