Parents,
Below is the description of requirements all students need in order to receive an invitation to join the National Junior Honor Society. Please be aware that only students who are in the 7th and 8th grade will be asked to join. The reason for this is that 6th grade is a transitional year. We recognize that we have many exceptional students in our 6th grade class, but our intent is to allow those students to focus on the change in curriculum and class structure so they can reach their potential.
In order to receive an invitation to join the Saint Hugh National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), a student must:
- Have and maintain a minimum of a 3.7 GPA at the end of every quarter
- Have all +s and S’s in Active Learner Traits
- Recommendation letter endorsed by Middle School staff
- Previous year’s ITBS Composite Score above a 85
- Previous year’s Final Average
In order to maintain membership in the Saint Hugh National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), a student must:
- Have and maintain a minimum of a 3.7 GPA at the end of every quarter
- Have all +s and S’s in Active Learner Traits
- Achieved at least 10 hours of community service within the year
Probation: In order to maintain good standing once inducted in the NJHS, all standards must be kept on a quarterly basis. One full quarter’s probation will result if a student falls below the 3.7 GPA for the quarter, and/or if a student’s behavior does not meet the minimum requirements this includes teacher input. If at the end of that quarter, the student remains in good standing in all other areas (GPA, conduct, effort), Then s/he will be considered a member in good standing.
Dismissal: If a student is on probation and fails to raise his/her GPA and/or achieve the necessary behavior within the allotted time, then dismissal from the NJHS will result. Once dismissed from the NJHS, that student is ineligible to re-apply.

Blessings,
Mr. Omar Solis
